Nestled in the leafy surrounds of Hornsby, Villa Flora presented a unique opportunity to reimagine an exposed backyard into a refined outdoor retreat.

At the heart of the project sits a new concrete-formed pool, suspended above ground via a series of structural piers. This solution was designed to address the site’s natural slope, allowing the pool to hover above the terrain and create seamless flow from the home directly into the outdoor area.

The pool, expertly delivered by Sydney Pool Co., combines premium finishes with modern technology. A clear and blue glass bead interior with a mosaic tile band provides a vibrant, polished look, while the recessed Daisy Deck cover keeps the space sleek, safe, and user-friendly. Additional features include multicolour LED lighting, Madimack InverElite pool equipment, and a Naked Pools freshwater system, offering chlorine-free, low-maintenance comfort year-round.

The pool is surrounded by a steel-framed deck, clad in Futurewood Xtreme composite timber decking for durability and warmth.

The entire structure, including the pool base and equipment, is enclosed with a custom Merbau timber batten screen, treated with a clear coat to preserve its rich colour and blend into the natural landscape.

Overhead, an insulated panel roof was installed to allow all-weather use of the deck area, paired with a Zipscreen Extreme automated shade system by ShadeSpec for privacy and sun protection at the touch of a button.

At the rear of the home, the original structure was opened up with the installation of a new bifold door system, complete with a retractable Centor flyscreen to enhance the indoor-outdoor connection. Internally, the project was rounded out with a complete bathroom renovation and full repaint, ensuring the interior reflects the same new life and care as the exterior.

Together, these elements form a cohesive outdoor living environment, one that is functional, relaxed, and deeply connected to its surroundings. Villa Flora is a showcase of thoughtful, collaborative design and high-end residential construction.
