Balmoral Retreat
This Balmoral renovation and extension project strikes a refined balance between architectural vision and construction precision.
Designed by Banksia Design Group, the home responds to its coastal setting with natural materials, fluid spatial flow, and carefully orchestrated light.
From arrival, the home conveys both privacy and openness — achieved through meticulous detailing, rich textural layering, and the seamless transition between interior and exterior domains. The result is a residence that prioritises lifestyle, enhances liveability, and leaves a lasting architectural impression.

Situated within the prestigious enclave of Mosman, Balmoral Retreat is a refined renovation and extension project that exemplifies reimagining existing structures into bespoke, high-end residences.
Working with the complexities of retaining key council required elements, this vision aimed to work with the constrictions to deliver a contemporary design — enhancing spatial flow, architectural coherence, and functionality throughout.
The home’s luxury architectural expression was achieved through precise detailing, including square-set ceilings, door jambs, and window reveals that establish a clean, minimalist look. Generous ceiling heights, paired with strategically placed Velux skylights, introduce an abundance of natural light, enriching the internal volume and promoting a sense of openness.
Externally, feature timber eaves contribute warmth and material contrast, reinforcing the home’s coastal identity.
Internally, finishes were curated to evoke understated sophistication — with engineered European oak flooring and a sandstone-clad entry foyer establishing an immediate tone of elegance. A newly constructed pool and alfresco entertaining zone extend the functional footprint outdoors, delivering a resort-inspired lifestyle.
At street level, the addition of a contemporary carport and subfloor retreat — complete with exposed concrete slab ceilings — injects an architectural edge that contrasts and complements the overall palette.
